S4A GROUP LTD FOREST SCHOOL PROVISION

Forest School

Forest School is a long term holistic learning process that aims to raise self-awareness and self-esteem in participants. Regular sessions take place in a woodland environment, where the landscape itself adds to the experience of learning.

We will provide an insured Level 3 Qualified Practitioner, trained in child development, self-esteem and learning theories that facilitate sessions to gain personal outcomes for each participant. Forest school can be applied to all age groups and abilities, and can be linked to the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Forest School can increase a child’s confidence and self-esteem through exploration, problem solving, and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment. The use of learner-led outcomes means information is retained better and also generally increases curiosity and motivation to learn in general. This motivation can have a positive impact on attitude to learning in school.

Forest School Co-ordinator

We love to take the pressure off and provide a solution where any added pressure is removed from your staff members, providing a short and long term Forest School Plan – whilst also helping out in other areas of the school day too where necessary, utilising the time you’ve got us for. (We aren’t afraid to get stuck in!)

Here’s a quick breakdown of what we can provide for your school

  • A Forest School programme that has a structure which is based on the observations and collaborative work between learners and practitioners. This structure will clearly demonstrate the progression of learning.
  • Aim to foster a relationship with nature through regular personal experiences in order to develop long-term, environmentally sustainable attitudes and practices in staff, learners and the wider community.
  • Aim to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.
  • Provide a stimulus for all learning preferences and dispositions.
  • All children participating are actively encouraged to be involved in making decisions about their environment and their safety thus learning to be effective risk assessors
  • Teach key learning experiences to really understand the importance of looking after nature and the environment.
  • Link to Forest school to other subjects being taught in school.
  • Follow a Risk–Benefit process managed jointly by the practitioner and learner that is tailored to the developmental stage of the learner.
